A Friday morning shooting left a 29-year-old up-and-coming Stockton-area rapper dead.

Manteca police have identified the victim as Disean Victor.

Victor, best known by his artist name “Young Slo-Be" went viral on TikTok with his song “I Love You."

“We had high hopes for Young Slo-Be’s career and looked forward to doing more great work together. This senseless act of violence has taken a man from his family and leaves a huge void in the West Coast music community. We hope to see a day where this kind of thing isn’t so common. We’ll miss him dearly,” Thizzler On The Roof, an Oakland-based media company said in a statement.

Police responded to a call at about 8:17 a.m. Friday on multiple reports of shots fired on the 100 block of Trevino Ave in Manteca.

Victor was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds, he received immediate lifesaving measures from officers until EMS arrived, police said.

He was transported to an area hospital for treatment where he later died from his injuries.

“The shooting does not appear to be random,” Manteca police said in a statement.

The shooting remains under investigation.
