'Come and get me': Stephen Colbert fires back at Proud Boy who name-dropped him in court

Stephen Colbert has a message for the leader of the Proud Boys who name-dropped him in court.

"You are going to jail you neo-numbnut, and if you don’t like it, you can come and get me," "The Late Show" host said during his TV monologue Wednesday on CBS. "Welcome to the monkey house, brother."

Colbert's name recently popped up in a statement from a lawyer representing Joseph Biggs, organizer of the Proud Boys, the far-right street gang indicted for their role in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Charged with seditious conspiracy in connection to the deadly riot, Biggs, 38, is facing 20 years in prison if convicted of the crime.

Biggs has argued that his trial should be moved out of Washington D.C. due to Colbert's "negative press and media coverage about the fraternity known as the Proud Boys."

"Oh that's right, the Proud Boys is just a fraternity. Jan. 6 was just hazing. I mean we all heard their chant," Colbert, 58, said Wednesday.

The show then plays recorded video footage of the days' rioters chanting in unison "Spank Mike Pence."

After referencing a Newsweek story on his show’s name-drop in court, Colbert blasted the message that he said he also wanted a potential jury pool to hear.

"By the time he gets out, this proud member is going to be a member of the AARP," Colbert said.
