Colts QB Jacoby Brissett leaves game with injury, backup Brian Hoyer immediately throws TD
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett sustained an injury early in the second quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. He grabbed at his knee and seemed to be in a decent amount of pain, but was able to walk off on his own, without the cart.

It appears Brissett’s knee got pushed to an odd angle when one of his teammates fell on top of him.
With Brissett out of the game, his backup Brian Hoyer came in to play quarterback. Backup QBs need to be ready to take over at a moment’s notice, and was Hoyer ever ready. He threw a touchdown on his first pass.

That’s exactly what everyone hopes their backup quarterback will do when he’s pressed into service. Given how the Colts have fared with Brissett, Andrew Luck’s backup, at the helm, should we have expected any less?
