Colts’ Jack Doyle fined $10K for unnecessary roughness

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle was fined $10,815 for unnecessary roughness against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.

Though he wasn’t penalized for it, Doyle was seen pushing Ravens cornerback Tavon Young’s head after a play was already over. Young retaliated by shoving Doyle and was penalized but not fined.

Even Ravens safety DeShon Elliott took to Twitter to defend his teammate.

The move was extremely uncharacteristic by Doyle, who is mostly a reserved player. There is a bit of history, though, from the 2020 season when Elliott delivered a cheap shot to Doyle’s helmet that wound up forcing him from the game.

Elliott was fined for the hit on Doyle, who was a defenseless receiver on a throw over the middle.

It isn’t clear if that played a role in Doyle’s head push of Young, but he’ll be slapped with a hefty fine for it.
