If you've ever wanted to own a piece of finger-licking fast food history, now's your chance. The Shelbyville, Kentucky, home of the late Colonel Sanders has just hit the market, and the property's next owner will end up with much more than just the Colonel's house.
As the Louisville Courier-Journal reported, the property includes the former home of KFC founder Colonel Sanders and his wife Claudia Sanders, plus an almost 25,000-square-foot restaurant and banquet hall. Known as the Claudia Sanders Dinner House, the restaurant has been run by the Settles family for decades. The Settles, who were good friends with the Sanders, are ready to retire and sell the building, along with its trademarks, to a new owner.
While you might not find your KFC favs like the Mac & Cheese Bowl or even the Jack Harlow Meal on the menu at the Claudia Sanders Dinner House, you will find "delicious food made from scratch" and the "finest in country cooking and family-style dining."
A spacious home and a restaurant/banquet hall may seem like a lot, but there's even more that comes along with the sale of the property. The new owner will also receive lots of memorabilia, including Colonel Sanders' original Kentucky Colonel certificate, a happy birthday letter from President Nixon to Colonel Sanders, Colonel Sanders’ monogrammed Bible, and more.
