Collins' grand slam sinks Clippers for third straight loss

Friday's game: Bisons 5, Clippers 4

Recap: Zack Collins' sixth-inning grand slam carried Buffalo to a 5-3 win Friday night at Huntington Park. Collins plated Vinny Capra, Gabriel Moreno and Jordan Groshans, who all walked with one out. Will Benson and Alex Call home runs cut the Clippers’ deficit to 4-3, but Logan Warmouth solo homer in the ninth provided the insurance and the victory. Zach Draper started the first ⅓ of an inning but a 73 minute rain delay ended his outing early. Robert Broom (2-1) took the loss while Bowden Francis (3-2) got the win in relief for Buffalo. Newark graduate Derek Holland earned his first save of the season.

Of note: OF Willie Brennen made his Triple-A debut, going 0 for 4 at the plate. At Akron he was leading the Eastern League with 39 RBIs and is riding a 15-game on base streak.
