College volleyball: Ridgewater puts together a big win

Oct. 6—WILLMAR — The Ridgewater College volleyball team put together perhaps its most impressive victory of the season Wednesday night.

The Warriors beat St. Cloud Technical & Community College, 3-2.

Ridgewater won 25-22, 23-25, 28-26, 17-25, 15-9.

"The team came out tonight and put all the hard work we've done this season on the court," Ridgewater head coach Amanda Bohlsen said. "We are so proud of them for the fight they have put in every day and we are excited to see that coming to fruition when it matters most."

Bohlsen cited the play of setters Yansi Flores and Olivia Naatjes. Flores, a freshman from Yellow Medicine East, had 18 set assists, eight kills, four blocks and 16 digs. Naatjes

Naatjes, a freshman from MACCRAY, had 13 set assists, two service aces, three kills, a block and five digs.

"Our setters, Yansi Flores and Olivia Naatjes, commanded their team tonight and worked flawlessly to execute their jobs," Bohlsen said. "The rest of the team fell right in line and finished strong to ensure the victory."

Tayler Schmidt, a sophomore from Paynesville, had 27 digs.

Ridgewater (3-12) is scheduled to play at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Century College in White Bear Lake.
