College Volleyball: Ridgewater downs Riverland, 3-1

Oct. 16—WILLMAR — The Ridgewater College volleyball team used some strong practice sessions to hone its game.

It helped the Warriors beat Riverland College 3-1 Friday in a Minnesota College Athletic Conference match.

Ridgewater beat the Blue Devils from Austin, 28-26, 25-22, 26-28, 25-19.

"We have worked hard to make the adjustments necessary and were successful tonight by putting them into play," Ridgewater head coach Amanda Bohlsen said. "We look forward to our game tomorrow as we work to keep rhythm and connection."

Madi Leyendecker helped lead the way. The setter from Paynesville had 35 set assists, five kills and 13 digs.

Morgan Mandel (11 kills), Sienna Olson (10 kills) and Haylee Johnson (10) led the attack. Mandel is a middle hitter from Annandale. Olson is a middle hitter from Red Lake Falls. Johnson is an outside hitter from Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Tayler Schmidt had 33 digs for the Warriors. She's a defensive specialist from Paynesville.

The Warriors are host to Anoka-Ramsey Community College at noon Saturday in Willmar.
