College softball: Saints rebound to earn split with Luther

Mar. 1—St. Scholastica lost its first game of the season, 8-0 to Luther before bouncing back to win the rematch 10-6 in a nonconference doubleheader Sunday at the RCTC Dome in Rochester, Minnesota.

Kendra Cooper (3-0) tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts to lead Luther in the first game.

Kari Breuer went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs, and Mara Seurer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run as the Saints (7-1) powered past the Norse (4-2) in the rematch.

Wisconsin-Superior lost a pair of nonconference games Saturday, 8-6 and 7-6 to Wisconsin-Stout in their season openers Saturday at the Maverick All-Sports Dome in Mankato, Minnesota.

Stout won the first game in come-from-behind fashion as the Blue Devils scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Jess Jacobson had three hits, including a double to lead UWS.

Shannon Jones' single scored Kayli Hall in the top of the fifth to win the rematch for Stout. Kaela Kraemer and Tayler Kraemer each had a pair of hits to lead the Yellowjackets.
