COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Falcons fall to West Texas A&M on late field goal

Oct. 2—CANYON — Gage Urias connected on a 32-yard field goal with three seconds remaining in the game to lift West Texas A&M to a 28-27 victory against UTPB Saturday at Buffalo Stadium.

Urias finished with five field goals on the night.

The victory improved the Buffaloes to 3-2 overall, 1-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

The Falcons dropped to 2-3, 1-2.

UTPB had taken a 27-25 lead with 8:56 remaining in the game on Carson Roberts' 33-yard field goal, his second of the game.

West Texas A&M quarterback Nick Gerber used his arm and feet on the game-winning drive, completing passes for 8, 12 and 11 yards, while rushing for a first down on fourth-and-2 at the Buffaloes' 42.

He then broke free for an 18-yard run on first-and-10 at the Falcons' 32 to put Urias within range for the game winner.

UTPB quarterback Dylan Graham was 33-of-46 passing for 306 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception.

Wide receiver MJ Link was the top target, catching 12 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

Running back Antonio Malone, who led UTPB with 58 yards rushing on 11 carries, also threw a touchdown pass, connecting with Jeremiah Venson on a 6-yard score in the third quarter.

The Falcons return home to host Simon Fraser (B.C.) at 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Ratliff Stadium.
