College Area Community Council to discuss Ventura growth, building heights

More than 200 people participated in a land-use alternatives general plan workshop in August in Ventura. The College Area Community Council will discuss the plan in a virtual meeting on Wednesday.

The road map to Ventura's growth for the next couple of decades will be discussed Wednesday at the College Area Community Council meeting.

The city's general plan will a topic at the 7 p.m. virtual meeting. The plan is being updated with potential changes to agriculture zones, building heights and density.

A representative from Berkeley-based consulting firm Raimi & Associates, who was hired by the city to help with the general plan, will discuss the land-use issues. The general plan lays out a framework for a decade or more of land use, development, conservation and other policies.

Ventura police Cmdr. Rick Murray will also provide data on local crimes.

Vanessa Stotler, communications and marketing manager for Ventura College, will also give an update.

The neighborhood council represents residents in District 3, an area bounded by Mills Road to the west, Hill Road to the east, city limits in the hillsides to the north and Highway 126 to the south.
