COLDWATER, MI. — The Coldwater Legg Middle School boys basketball teams faced off with Interstate 8 rival Marshall on Tuesday night, coming away with a 1-3 record overall.

Bringing home the lone win in an intense night of action was the eighth grade “A” team who defeated Marshall by the score of 42-31.

Draycen Foster led all scorers with an absolutely monster game, pouring in 17 points to go along with five assists, three rebounds, two blocks and five steals.

Dayton Ennis also hit double figures, scoring 12 points while adding four steals and an assist.

Also adding to the eighth grade “A” effort was Landon Dirschell with six points, three assists, four rebounds, and three steals; Finnegan Hanson with two points, two assists and five rebounds; Joseph Hayward with two points, one assist and six rebounds; Manual Hernandez with three points, one rebound and three steals; Mason Sabaitis with one assist and one rebound; Carter Shaffer with four rebounds; and Drew Vanderpuyl with one rebound.

In the eighth grade “B” contest the Cardinals fell to Marshall by the score of 46-10.

The duo of Gabe McCown and Thad Timer led the team in scoring with four points each. McCown added four blocks and three steals while Timer chipped in with a team high six rebounds.

In the seventh grade “A” game the Cardinals lost a heartbreaker, falling by the slimmest of margins, dropping the 42-41 decision.

Trevor Mitchell had a big game for Coldwater, leading the team with 20 points. Also adding to the seventh grade “A” effort was Trevon Mitchell with eight points and nine rebounds; Wayne Case with five points and five steals; and Cooper Golematis with nine rebounds.

With the tough loss the seventh grade “A” Cardinals are now 3-3 on the season.

In the seventh grade “B” contest it was Marshall defeating Coldwater 56-15.

Leading the way for Coldwater was Miles Buckley with eight points, five rebounds and two steals while Kameron McKinney added 10 rebounds and two steals.

Also chipping in for the seventh grade “B” effort was Wyatt Boger with one rebound and one steal; Carter Curtis with one rebound; Carter Finley with two rebounds; Gabe Spear with seven rebounds, two steals and one point; Kacey Thornton with six points, two rebounds and three steals; and Mohamed Yehya with two rebounds and one steal.

The LMS Cardinals will next see action on Wednesday when they travel to Harper Creek.
