The wintry weather that has chilled much of the rest of the country is sending a blast down to South Florida on Monday morning, delivering the coldest temperatures of the year and producing frost warnings for the Glades region.

The National Weather Service has issued a frost warning for 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday morning for inland Palm Beach County, Hendry County, Glades County and inland Collier County.

In Palm Beach County, areas west of State Road 7 are expected to see temperatures fall into the low to mid-30s.

"These temperatures, combined with light to near calm wind, will lead to areas of frost," the weather service said in an advisory announced just after 10 a.m. Sunday.

Weather Service forecasters are predicting lows in the mid-40s overnight today in coastal Palm Beach County, with an added wind chill. Highs today and Monday will be in the upper 60s.
