Cold front next week could bring some snow to North Texas after a rainy Sunday and Monday

Snow might be coming back to parts of North Texas next week as rain on Sunday and Monday is set to usher in a strong cold front and winter precipitation, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Scattered showers are expected to move into the region from the west on Sunday and cover more of the DFW metroplex on Monday. The National Weather Service predicts up to 1.5 inches of rain in some places, mostly south of Interstate 20.

Highs in the upper 60s on Monday look to fall into the upper 30s by Thursday in DFW, with a rain-snow mix overnight between Wednesday and Thursday with a low of 24, the service forecasts.

The Nation Weather Service says on its website that the chance of wintry weather overnight Wednesday into Thursday is too far out to be certain, though, and shouldn’t cause too much concern yet.

Weekend temperatures are expected to range from the upper 60s to lower 70s from Saturday to Sunday, with Saturday night lows in the mid to low 30s in DFW, upper 20s to the east and west and upper 30s in Waco.
