- Are you a person that celebrates Juneteenth day?
- To be honest, I don't-- I've never celebrated celebrated. I'm aware that and I'm proud of it. But just to be completely honest, I've never had a proper cookout or barbecue or celebrated the way that I should have. But you know, I definitely am this year.
- Definitely, because you know, me growing up and understanding the importance of you know our Independence Day and representing the history of what we had to go through, I know it's a national holiday. It's always been a national holiday in my eyes. But a lot of discussion is out there that it will be a national holiday going forward from this point. How will you celebrate it? And how would you continue to educate and inform people about that special day?
- It's going to be a little tricky, you know, with the virus still going on. You know, probably not going to be able to spend too much time or have too many friends. But I'm gonna just try to indulge in our culture, whether it's the foods we cook and the games we plan, whether we read a couple of articles or just having a roundtable discussion about things but just try to indulge in our culture and the beauty of it, dancing, singing, rapping, all those things. Just try to indulge and celebrate, you know, how far we've come. And also, you know, keep in mind how far we have to still go but just enjoying the moment, you know, being surrounded by my black brothers and sisters.
