Coast Guard and others search for man who went overboard in Houma Navigation Canal

A search is underway for a 59-year-old man who fell from a boat in the Houma Navigation Canal, the Coast Guard said Friday.

Lawrence Kennedy was last seen in the water Thursday with no lifejacket near mile marker 21 in Dulac. The Coast Guard said it received a call at its New Orleans office at 7:34 p.m. Thursday from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office reporting a man overboard.

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and 24-foot boat are searching the area, along with crews from the Sheriff's Office, Grand Caillou Fire Department and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries.
