Cleveland P Cam Hill recovering after car crash, wrist surgery
Cleveland Indians reliever Cameron Hill is recovering after undergoing surgery following a car crash on Monday night, he shared on Instagram on Tuesday.
Hill, who made his debut with the team in July, underwent surgery on his right wrist after the accident in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He didn’t share specifics about the accident, other than saying that everyone else was “all okay.”
Based on the photos he shared of his car, though, the crash was clearly no laughing matter.
“Had a car accident yesterday, very blessed to only bang up my wrist,” he wrote on Instagram. “Surgery went really well, most importantly the others involved in the accident were all okay. Looking forward to the challenge of getting back and ready for the beginning of the 2021 season.”
A hand specialist in Tulsa performed the surgery on his lunate bone in the mid-carpal joint, the team said. It went “as expected,” though there is no timeframe for his return.
Hill, 26, was selected by the Indians in the 2014 amateur draft. He made his debut with the team in July, and finished last year 2-0 with a 4.91 ERA over 18 games. The Oklahoma City native made one appearance in the postseason last year, too, though allowed three runs in Game 1 of their wild-card series with the New York Yankees.
