Clemson added another sibling connection on Friday.

Almost seven years after Tigers defensive end Shaq Lawson completed his college career at Clemson, his younger brother, Jahiem, announced a commitment to the Tigers. Also a defensive end, the DW Daniel High School senior totaled 75 tackles with a team-leading sack, ending his prep campaign with a state championship.

“STAYING HOME,” he tweeted on Friday evening.

Jaheim Lawson, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound three-star recruit, chose Clemson over schools like Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Coastal Carolina. He competed in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl where he, like Shaq in 2011, was among the MVPs in the all-star game that’s played in Myrtle Beach.

The Class 3A all-state and Shrine Bowl selection was also named the Palmetto Champions Class 3A Upper State Lineman of the Year.

Lawson is Clemson’s only defensive lineman in the class after IMG Academy’s Jihaad Campbell, now enrolled at Alabama, decommitted on Dec. 9. Prior to the South Carolinian’s announcement, the Tigers had the No. 11 class in the country, per 247Sports, and second-best in the ACC behind North Carolina.

Lawson is expected to sign with the Tigers next Wednesday on the traditional National Signing Day.

Older brother Shaq was a four-star defensive end from Daniel as part of Clemson’s 20th-ranked recruiting class in 2012. He had 167 tackles and 20 quarterback sacks with 16 starts in 41 games played with the program before being taken by the Buffalo Bills with the 19th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Last week, Clemson had another sibling of a former player commit in Class of 2022 three-star wide receiver Cole Turner, whose brother, Nolan, just completed a six-year career with the Tigers. On Wednesday, three-star linebacker Kobe McCloud, the younger brother of former Tigers wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, announced he would be part of Clemson’s Class of 2022 recruiting group.
