Class B volleyball roundup: MPB drowns out Wilton/Wing

Sep. 24—Lilly Bohl had lots of options of where to place the ball Thursday night but the Medina/Pingree-Buchanan setter could rest assured when Allison Thomas got the ball, it would probably result in points.

Bohl and Thomas helped the MPB volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Wilton/Wing to even the Thunder's record at 3-3.

Thomas, a sophomore for the Thunder, picked up a double-double in the three-set sweep recording 10 kills and 31 digs. The outside hitter also recorded one of the team's six aces.

The Thunder will have a tough test Tuesday as the team is slated to travel to District 6 rival Linton/HMB. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Bulldogs take Richardton/Taylor in straight sets

Balance was the name of Bowman County's game against Richardton/Taylor Thursday night.

All told the team combined for 22 kills between the seven attackers but Alyssa Buckman, Claire Stafford, Ellie Powell and Madeline Stafford were all tied for the team's leading attacker title with four kills apiece. Avrie Nohava anchored the back three with 17 balls saved while Bailey Peterson dominated the back line, serving up six aces.

The Bulldogs are the No. 4 team in Region 7 with a record of 3-1. Overall BC is 8-3. Bowman County's next test will be on the road at New England Tuesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Cardinals get win No. 2 of the year

Olivia Hagen led Ellendale in three stat categories Thursday in Ellendale.

Hagen, a junior setter helped the Cardinals to a 3-0 sweep over Leola Frederick to improve to 2-5 overall. Hagen passed out 18 assists to the front three. Avery Rotondi led the Cards at the net with nine kills. Hagen also led in the back row, popping up 12 balls and put on a convincing show from the service line, recording five of the team's 12 aces.

Ellendale will be at District 5 rival, Carrington, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
