Clark County reports 100 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths since Friday

Mar. 8—Clark County recorded 100 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths since Friday, according to the latest data released Monday by Clark County Public Health.

The new cases work out to an average of about 33 new cases a day over three days, up slightly from last week's average of about 29 new cases a day, according to Public Health data. They lift the county's total to 18,567 cases to date.

Deaths held steady at 228 to date, according to Public Health data. The county reported five deaths last week, all on Friday. There were four deaths reported in the previous week.

The number of active cases, people with COVID-19 still in their isolation period and considered contagious, fell over the weekend. There were 195 active cases, down from 236 on Friday.

Hospitalizations held steady, with 15 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Clark County, the same number as on Friday, and four people were hospitalized awaiting test results, down from five on Friday, according to Public Health data.

Public Health reported that 67.2 percent of the county's licensed ICU beds were occupied, meeting one of four key metrics in the state's reopening guidelines and down from 68.8 percent on Friday.

The county also reported that 3.3 percent of the county's licensed hospital beds were occupied by people with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19, down from 3.5 percent on Friday.
