Here are the Clarion Ledger's Super 10 high school baseball rankings for the week of May 2. The teams were picked by the sports staff, baseball minds and coaches around the state.

1. Northwest Rankin (28-2) – The Cougars cruised to a second round sweep of St. Martin. Senior Connor Brooks allowed three hits with seven strikeouts in six innings in Saturday's 5-0 victory.

2. Sumrall (29-0) – The Bobcats advanced to the MHSAA Class 4A quarterfinals behind a two-game sweep over Mendenhall. Senior Cade Dedeaux had three hits and eight RBIs in Saturday's 20-4 victory.

3. Madison-Ridgeland Academy (33-4) – The Patriots swept a three-game series against Hartfield Academy. MRA outscored the Hawks 32-5. Junior Jackson Ever allowed two hits with six strikeouts in Tuesday's 10-0 victory.

4. Jackson Prep (27-6) – The Patriots won back-to-back games against Jackson Academy after losing 2-1 to the Raiders Tuesday. Senior Owen Abney had a double and three RBIs in Friday's 14-3 victory.

5. Brandon (24-6) – The Bulldogs took care of business with a two-game sweep of Biloxi in the second round of the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs. Senior Mozelle Little led Brandon with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs in Saturday's 15-7 victory.

6. Magnolia Heights (24-4) – The Chiefs rolled to a 15-4 victory and a 4-1 victory over Winston Academy. Magnolia Heights will face East Rankin Academy in the MAIS Class 5A quarterfinals.

8. Madison Central (19-7) – The Jaguars swept Starkville to advance to the quarterfinals of the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs. Senior Ross Highfill had a three-run home run and sophomore Chase Russell had a solo shot in Friday's 11-5 victory.

9. New Hope (26-4) – The Trojans swept Cleveland Central to advance to the MHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals. Holmes signee Hunter Carr had a home run and senior Caden Perrigin went 3-for-3 with a double in Saturday's 18-3 victory.

10. Hernando (23-7) – The Tigers won Game 2 and 3 against Germantown to advance to the MHSAA Class 6A quarterfinals. Senior Garrick Smith and sophomore Brody Martin combined for eight RBIs in Monday's 11-7 victory.
