Police investigating homicide on New Circle Road, roadway reopened

A 42-year-old man was sent to the hospital suffering multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday evening after a shooting took place on New Circle Road, according to Lexington police. He was pronounced dead soon after he arrived at the hospital.

The coroner identified the victim as Eric Boone. He was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital at 7:21 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting was reported to police at 5:56 p.m., said Lt. Jeremiah Davis with the Lexington Police Department. It happened at the intersection of New Circle Road and Meadow Lane, Davis said.

Police shut down the inner loop of New Circle Road between Meadow Lane and Bryan Avenue to investigate, Davis said. Meadow Lane was also shut down between Emerson Drive and the inner loop of New Circle Road.

One lane of New Circle Road reopened just before 10 p.m., according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center. All lanes of traffic on New Circle Road and Meadow Lane appeared to be open while viewing a public traffic camera in the area at 10:30 p.m.
