Jonathan India leads off for Cincinnati Reds lineup in the Field of Dreams game

It'll be a game between two rebuilding teams Thursday, but the Field of Dreams game will carry a lot more meaning than a typical regular season game for the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs.

Many players bringing their families to Dyersville, Iowa, to share in one of Major League Baseball's marquee games together. Most players grew up watching the film, helping build their relationship with the sport, and now they'll be a part of bringing that Field of Dreams vision to life.

“I know they have to keep it in perspective not to make too big of a deal out of it because they have to go out, compete and try to win the game," Reds Manager David Bell said, "but at the same time, I think there is a lot there.”

Cincinnati Reds lineup vs. Chicago Cubs in the Field of Dreams game

Here is the starting lineup for the Reds, who entered with a 44-66 record after they were swept by the New York Mets:

  4. Joey Votto, 1B

  5. Donovan Solano, DH

  6. Albert Almora Jr., LF

  7. Aristides Aquino, RF

  8. Jose Barrero, SS

  9. Austin Romine, C

Left-handed rookie Nick Lodolo will be the starting pitcher in the Field of Dreams game. Lodolo hasn't seen the film, but he said the toughest task will be taking everything in while still preparing to pitch.
