There isn't much Lamont Nickleberry hasn't accomplished the past few years of high school at Childress. He's been a dominant receiver, lockdown corner, star basketball player — you name it, he’s done it.

Thursday afternoon, a day after much of the hoopla of National Signing Day had died down, he added one more thing to list of accomplishments: college commitment.

Nickleberry signed his National Letter of Intent to play wide receiver in the fall with the Trinity University football program located in San Antonio.

"Congratulations to our very own @lamontnick3 on signing his NLI to continue his academic and athletic career at @TUFootballTX!" the Childress Bobcats Football Twitter account Tweeted out. "Lamont is a special talent and has worked extremely hard for this moment! Excited to see you make a positive impact in San Antonio!"

Nickleberry has made the second team of the Amarillo Globe-New Super Team the last two season. This past year, he hauled in 51 passes for 948 yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season. That was with multiple first-year quarterbacks throwing the ball to him. He's also been a star basketball player for the Bobcats and has a 30-point game this season.

Trinity may be further down south and a bit too far for a day drive, but Nickleberry won't be completely alone. Former star Childress quarterback Collin Bishop is also at Trinity. The pair developed a special connection in their time as Bobcats as Bishop threw 24 touchdowns with no interceptions his senior season.

Trinity is a Division III member of the NCAA. The Tigers went 11-1 last season, taking victory in their first 11 contests before falling in the second round of the playoffs to Mary Hardin-Baylor, 24-17.

For the rest of this year, Nickleberry will focus on helping the Bobcat basketball team, which is ranked in the top 25 in Class 3A in the state by TABC.

After that, he'll get his high school diploma before preparing for college and competing with the Trinity Tigers.
