Running back Ronald Jones officially makes his regular-season debut in a Chiefs uniform today.

Jones is not among the group of seven players the Chiefs listed as inactive for this afternoon’s game against the Los Angeles Rams at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs need Jones, who was a healthy inactive for their previous 10 games, because Clyde Edwards-Helaire landed on injured reserve earlier in the week. Jones will contribute alongside rookie Isiah Pacheco, who has started four straight games, and Jerick McKinnon.

Pacheco is coming off his first 100-yard game as a rusher in the NFL.

Starting left guard Joe Thuney, who entered the weekend as questionable on the injury report with an ankle injury, won’t play. Nick Allegretti is the likely replacement at left guard.

The Chiefs will have tackle Lucas Niang and rookie offensive lineman Darian Kinnard available for duty. Niang, who started nine games at right tackle in 2021, spent the first 10 games on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list before being activated earlier in the week.

Wide receiver Kadarius Toney (hamstring), safety Juan Thornhill (calf), quarterback Shane Buechele, defensive ends Joshua Kaindoh and Malik Herring and offensive lineman Geron Christian round out the Chiefs’ list of inactive players.

With Thornhill out, the Chiefs are likely to rely on rookie safety Bryan Cook to start alongside Justin Reid.

The Chiefs on Saturday elevated wide receiver Cornell Powell and safety Zayne Anderson from their practice squad to provide depth at their respective positions and contribute on special teams.
