Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes gives ankle injury update during Super Bowl opening night

The Kansas City Chiefs took center stage in Phoenix, Arizona during Super Bowl LVII.
Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury remains a huge storyline ahead of the matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s already confirmed that he made it out of the AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals no worse for wear. When he was asked about the injury during opening night, he told media members that it’s getting better.
“It’s definitely better, for sure,” Mahomes said. “Just having the rest and a few days off, but we still practiced and stuff like that. You’ll never know exactly until you get to the game, obviously. But it’s definitely in a better position than it was at this time before the last game. We’ll keep pushing it, but not doing too much because you don’t want to have any setbacks, but I haven’t had any since the game at least.”
Asked how much it might limit him during the game, Mahomes said he wouldn’t know until he got out on the field. No matter how much he’s feeling the ankle injury, he says he’s going to push it to the limit during the game.
“You won’t know until you get out there in the game,” Mahomes said. “I’m going to push it. I’ll try to leave it all out on the line. I think y’all saw that in the last game that I played. It’s about relying on your teammates and I’ve got a lot of great teammates around me. Not trying to do too much, but I definitely will be in a better spot than I was last game.”
