Quarterback Patrick Mahomes joined two sports talk shows this week and he was asked on both about a pass he threw Sunday night in the Chiefs’ 41-31 win over the Buccaneers.

You can probably guess which one.

Video of Mahomes’ 2-yard touchdown pass to running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been viewed more than 3.6 million times on Twitter alone.

On the “Rich Eisen Show,” Mahomes was asked Tuesday to put viewers into his shoes on the play and share what was going through his mind.

“The first thing was I wanted to make sure I beat the defensive end around the edge to give our guys a chance to make a play,” Mahomes said. ”And I ended up getting past him and then I was running and I was gonna run and try to score, but (linebacker) Devin White is fast enough that he kind of cut me off and I did a spin move. And I remember the spin move kind of made me kind of say, ‘Oh, wait, I can still throw the football.’ And so then once I (did) spin and I saw Clyde, I just tried to get it out as quickly as possible knowing that I was real close to the line of scrimmage there.”

With Buccaneers players descending on him, Mahomes said he had no thought of going out of bounds. He also revealed there was a moment that surprised him as the play unfolded.

“There was no thought of going out of bounds,” Mahomes said, “I was either going to dive for the end zone or throw it. But I think stuff does slow down a little bit. I remember talking after the game with (guard) Nick Allegretti. He was the eligible o-lineman on that play and I remember as I was running, I looked over and saw an o-lineman in the end zone. I was like why is our o-lineman looking at me in the end zone? Oh wait, that guy sis eligible to catch the ball.”

Here are two looks at that amazing touchdown pass.

While talking with Carrington Harrison on KCSP (610 AM) on Monday, Mahomes admitted that after watching the replay the play was even better than he remembered as it happened.

“The crazy part is I saw the film on the plane ride back after,” Mahomes said. “It was way cooler than I thought it was at the moment. At the moment, I thought it was a little chest pass to him, but when I saw the spin and kind of jump shot throw I made, I even was like, man, this is pretty cool”
