Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney has a 50-50 chance to return in Week 14.

Toney, who has missed two straight games with a hamstring injury, practiced on a limited basis this week and enters the weekend designated as questionable on the injury report.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid wasn’t ready to commit to having Toney available for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High.

“He got out and he worked, did some good things and moved around pretty good,” Reid said Friday. “We didn’t give him a full load, but he went out and moved around.

“We’ll see. He would be one that’s right there on the border of playing, not playing.”

Toney’s absence in recent games has affected the Chiefs most on special teams. Since acquiring him in a bye-week trade with the New York Giants, Toney has absorbed the role as primary punt returner for Kansas City.

The Chiefs in recent games have utilized Justin Watson and rookie Skyy Moore as their punt returners.

While it remains unclear if Toney will return in Week 14, the same status applies to left guard Joe Thuney, who has missed two straight games with an ankle injury.

“He’s felt better the last couple of days, for sure,” Reid said.

Thuney practiced fully the entire week, but the Chiefs designated him as questionable on Friday’s injury report. If he can’t play against the Broncos, backup center/guard Nick Allegretti would start a third straight game.

Toney and Thuney are the only players on the Chiefs’ 53-player roster to carry a game designation.
