'Emmerdale' actor Charley Webb hits back at 'mean' trolls who criticise her boys' long hair

Emmerdale star Charley Webb has told online trolls who say her sons look like girls because of their long hair to “try keeping it to yourself”.

The 31-year-old star, who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap, said she was tired of listening to people who “think they have a right to have an opinion because of social media”.

Webb took to Instagram in response to trolls who hit out at her and her three sons over their long hair making them “look like girls”.

The veteran soap actor has three sons with co-star Matthew Wolfenden — Buster, aged nine, three-year-old Bowie and two-month-old Ace.

“I get asked so many times on here why my kids have got long hair,” she wrote to her 320,000 followers.

“We like it and more importantly they like it. I absolutely don’t feel like I need to explain it to anyone who has an opinion but I just think life would be so much easier if we all just focused on our own lives.”

She continued: “It’s not important to us what you think of how our kids look. Or how we look. Or their names or whatever it is you might want to comment on.

“I was always taught, if you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Try practicing it peeps.

“There’s enough awful stuff in the world without being mean to each other.”

Webb has previously opened up about the pain she suffered during her third pregnancy after contracting symphysis pubis dysfuntion (SPD).

Webb and Wolfenden married in 2018, having dated for more than 10 years.

She joined the soap as a teenager in 2002, while 39-year-old Wolfenden arrived as David Metcalfe in 2006.

The couple can both still be seen as part of Emmerdale, which airs seven episodes a week on ITV.
