New changes coming to Delta loyalty program

On Thursday, Delta announced that they will be making some changes to its Skymiles program.

One of the biggest changes is the number of Medallion qualification dollars required to earn status.

For the first time in seven years, Delta Skymiles will increase MQD thresholds for Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members by 33%.

One of the new Choice Benefits includes being able to gift status to a friend or loved one.

Diamond members will get two Gold Medallion gift statues per selection. Platinum tiers will get two Silver medallion gift statues per selection.

Early next year, there will be a digital upgrade certificate capability.

As more people continue to travel with Delta, the airline plans to increase the travel credit voucher to $250.

A Delta Vacations Experience, including flight and hotel, will be $500 for Diamond members and $400 for Platinum.

The Atlanta-based company says they will continue to enhance its benefits based on feedback from its customers.
