Prolific scorers and standout defensive performers highlight the ThisWeek Super 12 girls soccer team.

The Athlete of the Year in each sport will be announced at the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards, presented by Encova Insurance. The winners will be announced during the live show on June 15 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The show is produced with the support of Raising Canes and Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Jordyn Adams

School: Bloom-Carroll

Year: Senior

This forward put together a record-breaking season while leading the Bulldogs to a 19-1 record and a Division II district runner-up finish.

Adams scored a program-record 49 goals and added 14 assists while being named the MSL-Buckeye Division Player of the Year and first-team all-state and all-district. She scored in 18 games and had assists in the other two, closing her prep career with 103 goals.

School: Olentangy Orange

Year: Senior

A three-year starter at center back, Colvert was the major cog for a defense that allowed 15 goals in 24 games and had 15 shutouts.

Colvert was first-team all-district and all-league, scoring three goals with five assists as the Pioneers finished 19-2-3, losing in a Division I state semifinal. They won their second district championship.

Erin Karas

School: Watterson

Year: Senior

While playing at defensive center-midfielder, Karas served as the Eagles’ No. 1 offensive creator and was the “cornerstone of our team’s success,” according to coach Scott Dempsey.

Karas, who had six goals and eight assists, was first-team all-CCL and all-district and second-team all-state. She started every game and played every minute of every postseason game as the Eagles finished 11-6-1 and were Division I district runners-up.

Ava Labocki

School: Granville

Year: Junior

This forward led Granville to a Division II regional semifinal, a third district title in four seasons and a 17-2-1 finish.

Labocki was named district Player of the Year and first-team all-state as she finished with 24 goals and 12 assists. She scored 10 goals as a sophomore when the Blue Aces were state runners-up and had 18 goals and 11 assists as a junior when they lost in a district final.

School: New Albany

Year: Junior

A midfielder, Metcalf led the Eagles with 22 goals and also had nine assists despite missing the postseason because of a knee injury.

Metcalf was named OCC-Ohio Player of the Year and first-team all-district and all-state, and is a Super 12 honoree for the second consecutive season. New Albany went 14-6, losing to Dublin Jerome 2-1 in a Division I regional semifinal.

Sophia Penegor

School: Dublin Jerome

Year: Senior

Penegor, a forward, led the Celtics to their seventh district title, eventually losing to Olentangy Orange 1-0 in a regional final to finish 17-2-1.

She led Jerome in scoring with 20 goals and 10 assists, and shared OCC-Cardinal Player of the Year honors with Olentangy Berlin’s Cameryn Susey and Hilliard Darby’s Ellie Janetski. Penegor also was first-team all-district and second-team all-state.

School: Olentangy

Year: Junior

Ross, a forward, was first-team all-state, all-district and all-OCC-Cardinal for the Braves after tying for the team lead in goals with 15 and finishing second in assists with 12.

Olentangy finished 13-4-4 and was a district runner-up for the second consecutive season, losing to Orange 2-1 in a final.

Natalie Smith

School: Grandview Heights

Year: Junior

Smith led the Bobcats with 20 goals and nine assists to earn first-team all-state, all-district and all-MSL-Ohio honors.

The midfielder also helped lead Grandview to its first Division III district championship since 2018, defeating Fairbanks 1-0 for the title. The Bobcats finished 15-4-2, losing to Lynchburg-Clay 1-0 in a regional final.

School: Olentangy Berlin

Year: Senior

Susey was a constant scoring threat for the Bears, leading them to their first Division I district championship. She led Berlin in scoring with 29 goals and 15 assists, earning first-team all-state and district Player of the Year honors and sharing the OCC-Cardinal Player of the Year award.

The Bears finished 18-2-1, losing 1-0 to Orange in a regional semifinal.

Taylor Thomas

School: Olentangy Liberty

Year: Senior

Thomas was the last line of defense for a team that allowed 16 goals in 17 games. She was second-team all-state and first-team all-district and all-OCC-Central after making 89 saves and recording eight shutouts.

Two of Thomas’ shutouts came in the postseason as Liberty finished 9-4-4, losing to Jerome 1-0 in a district final.

School: Olentangy Orange

Year: Senior

Valleau helped lead the Pioneers to their first Division I regional title and a 19-2-3 finish, losing to Cincinnati Seton 2-1 in two overtimes in a state semifinal.

The forward was Orange’s leading scorer with 22 goals and 13 assists to earn first-team all-state and all-district honors. She also was named OCC-Central Player of the Year as the Pioneers won the league title at 4-1.

School: New Albany

Year: Senior

A veteran of the Eagles’ defense, Young led a unit that posted six shutouts and allowed one goal eight times on the way to a second consecutive Division I district championship and a share of the OCC-Ohio title with Gahanna and Pickerington North.

Young, who also was Super 12 as a junior, had four goals and 20 assists. She was named first-team all-league and all-district and second-team all-state.
