Central Ohio High School Sports Awards: ThisWeek reveals Super 12 girls cross country team
Whether it was league, district, regional or state competition, the members of the ThisWeek Super 12 girls cross country team delivered standout performances.
The Athlete of the Year in each sport will be announced at the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards, presented by Encova Insurance. The winners will be announced during the live show on June 15 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The show is produced with the support of Raising Canes and Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Nominated athletes will receive a free ticket to the event thanks to sponsors when they RSVP here. Additional tickets may be purchased on the show’s website.
Amber Carter
School: Pickerington Central
Year: Senior
Carter returned to the Division I state meet for the second consecutive season, finishing 23rd (18 minutes, 51.2 seconds) a year after placing 65th.
She won the OCC-Buckeye Division championship this fall in 18:35.0 before finishing third (18:46.58) in district 1 and fifth (18:33.63) at regional. Her personal-best time of 18:33.63 ranks second in program history to Erica Moriarty by eight seconds.
Brooke Chapman
School: Olentangy Orange
Year: Freshman
Chapman led the Pioneers to their first appearance in the Division I state meet since 2019 and placed 20th (19:04.3) as Orange finished 19th (372) behind champion Mason (75).
She placed fourth (18:13.38) at regional, was runner-up (18:50.46) in district 3 and finished second (18:55.2) in the OCC-Central.
Natalie Fouts
School: Dublin Jerome
Year: Freshman
Fouts capped her first season by finishing 39th (19:11.5) in the Division I state meet as the Celtics placed sixth (226).
Fouts finished 13th (18:53.88) at regional, sixth (19:37.52) at district and second (18:49.0) in the OCC-Cardinal. Jerome won district and league titles and finished second at regional.
Grace Heitkamp
School: Olentangy Berlin
Year: Sophomore
Heitkamp, also a Super 12 honoree last season, placed 24th in the Division I state meet in 18:52.1 a year after finishing 35th in 18:56.4.
She was 10th (18:45.13) at regional, runner-up (19:15.0) in district 2 and won the OCC-Cardinal race in 18:38.9.
Caitlyn Jones
School: Hilliard Davidson
Year: Senior
Jones finished fourth (18:19.0) in the Division I state meet after taking first (18:24.86) at district and third (18:11.13) at regional, helping the Wildcats win team titles in both.
She earned her fourth Super 12 honor and third while competing for Davidson. She competed for Hilliard Bradley as a freshman.
Sophie Lane
School: Hilliard Davidson
Year: Junior
Lane finished 32nd (19:05.9) in the Division I state meet as Davidson finished second (91) behind Mason (75).
She was 12th (18:49.62) at regional, fifth (19:10.97) at district and eighth (19:37.52) in the OCC-Central as the Wildcats won all three meets.
Zoee Lehman
School: Granville
Year: Senior
Also a Super 12 honoree in 2021 and the 2022 LCL champion in 18:38.1, Lehman was instrumental in Granville winning its second state title after it was runner-up the year before.
She captured the Division II, district 1 title in 18:49.35 and finished in 18:27.17 at regional to win another title, leading the Blue Aces to championships both weeks. She then was 30th (19:48.9) at state.
Milly Leonard
School: Dublin Jerome
Year: Sophomore
Leonard led the Celtics in the Division I state meet for the second consecutive season as she finished 18th (18:44.2). As a freshman, she finished 10th (18:21.5) and was named to the Super 12 team.
This season, Leonard was 27th (19:40.63) at regional, fifth (19:25.27) at district and third (18:54.2) in the OCC-Cardinal, helping Jerome win district and league titles and finish second at regional.
Olivia Oiler
School: Dublin Coffman
Year: Senior
Oiler, a repeat Super 12 honoree, placed 10th (18:34.9) in the Division I state meet and won the OCC-Central championship in 18:52.1.
She also was fourth (19:06.69) in the district 3 meet to help the Shamrocks finish third and sixth (18:39.63) at regional as Coffman placed sixth to miss advancing to state as a team by one spot.
Helen Randolph
School: Dublin Jerome
Year: Sophomore
A move-in from California during her freshman year, Randolph capped her first season with Jerome by finishing 19th (18:44.3) in the Division I state meet. That came a week after she won the regional title in 18:04.87.
Randolph also won a district title (18:39.29) and finished fourth (18:57.1) in the OCC-Cardinal meet, helping Jerome win team titles in both.
Dillon Sweetman
School: Hilliard Davidson
Year: Senior
Sweetman closed her prep cross country career by finishing ninth (18:33.0) in the Division I state meet. She finished eighth (18:44.08) at regional, third (18:52.7) at district and fourth (18:59.0) in the OCC-Central as the Wildcats won all three meets.
Sweetman also was named to the Super 12 team as a junior and sophomore.
Selah White
School: Dublin Scioto
Year: Junior
White finished 13th (18:38.6) in her second Division I state meet. She won the OCC-Capital championship in 18:54.8 and finished second (18:07.87) at regional and second (18:46.02) at district.
Last season, she placed 53rd (19:11.4) at state and was named to the Super 12 team.
