Celebrity makeup artist Alexx Mayo shares 4 products to create the perfect quarantine date night look

NURYS CASTILLO: What's up, everybody? I'm Nurys, and this is "Accidental Beauty Blogger at Home Edition."

One way people have been adapting to these circumstances are virtual hangouts. And today, my friends, I will be joined by the amazing celebrity makeup artist Alexx Mayo who has worked with star like Lizzo, Tinashe. He is going to share with me an easy and effortless makeup look for a quarantine FaceTime date night that I am going to go on. I cannot wait. He's going to help me. Hey, Alexx.
ALEXX MAYO: Hi. Oh my gosh, I'm so happy to be here. Thank you for having me.
NURYS CASTILLO: I want to get ready for a FaceTime quarantine date, any I knew you [INAUDIBLE].
ALEXX MAYO: We want to kind of keep it really simple, and this is a really effortless kind of look. But you can also kind of take these as, like, a staple into whatever makeup you want to do.
My first thing that I'm going to use is the All Nighter Setting Spray. People think you can use this afterwards, but I actually like to even start a makeup with it, and it kind of gives us like a primer effect. So we'll spray that on.
It has this really, like, refreshing feeling to it. The really cool thing is that it's actually temperature controlling as well, so it does help your makeup in the heat or whatever you have going on.
So next, now that we've done our sort of primer, I'm going to go in with the Stay Naked Concealer. The formula is so blendable. It looks so skin like, and I love the little applicator. Kind of allows you to kind of get into, like, places like around the nose.
For me, my biggest concern is under the eye. I like to kind of pop it in there right in the inner corners and really kind of smooth it out. I like to just kind of use, like, a pressing motion and kind of roll it up and out.
You want to make sure that you're not pulling and tugging. You want to be gentle with it.
NURYS CASTILLO: I was being a little rough.
ALEXX MAYO: I saw that. That's why I had to kind of, you know, pull you back a little bit.
You're almost getting this, like, natural, like, highlighting effect. Like, you look like contoured almost.
NURYS CASTILLO: [INAUDIBLE]
ALEXX MAYO: What?
NURYS CASTILLO: [INAUDIBLE] have you here.
ALEXX MAYO: Next we're going to use the Brow Blade. So I have your traditional brow pencil, and on the other side actually kind of has like a brown marker.
You actually have really great brows to start with, so you don't need to do a ton. I'm going to actually recommend that you start with the pencil side.
What I like to do is kind of start at the bottom of the brow. So right at the head of the brow, you want to just kind of use very light pressure, and you want to kind of just start following the direction of the hairs. Placementwise, you want to always kind of use, like, the side of your nose as, like, a guide of where it should start.
NURYS CASTILLO: Have you done a quarantine date yet?
ALEXX MAYO: I am very lucky to live with my partner. We have been coming up with really inventive ways to, like, have, like, creative dinners. We have this fun thing where, say, if we're cooking something Italian, like, we'll listen to, like, Italian music, fun little things to kind of get us in this little mood.
NURYS CASTILLO: I'm going to do that for my quarantine date.
ALEXX MAYO: Yes. Let me know how that goes.
I'm going to take the marker side of it a little bit closer to, like, the front of the brow. I'm not even really pushing it onto the skin.
Microblading is so popular right now, and everybody's going to do this whole thing. You can really get that effect of having, like, strokes of hair on your face with this product. I feel like a fluffy brow is so trendy right now, and everybody wants that, like, you know, brushed-up brow like a fluffy brow. So if you don't have that naturally, you can use something like this to give yourself that.
Next thing that we're going to use is our very versatile Perversion 24/7 Eye Pencil. In my kit, I go through these, like, so often because I use them for every sort of eye look.
NURYS CASTILLO: Did you use this on Lizzo?
ALEXX MAYO: I do. I use this all the time on Lizzo. She can do a show for two hours, and this has been the only pencil that truly stays in place.
You're literally just going in between your eyelashes just to kind of create a fuller look. This lash line looks so much fuller--
NURYS CASTILLO: Yeah.
ALEXX MAYO: --than this one, and you almost look more expressive. You almost look like hi.
NURYS CASTILLO: Gives it-- gives eyes like a pop.
ALEXX MAYO: It does. It does, and it's very, very subtle. I think especially for your quarantine date, you know, you want to make sure the eyes are popping.
I love how you're concentrating on this arm placement. You're doing this crisscross, like, impossible move contortionist.
NURYS CASTILLO: How long have you been a makeup artist?
ALEXX MAYO: I probably started playing into makeup when I was maybe, like, 14. My first beauty job that I had was assisting a wedding. I think that because of my passion, I started working on people in the studio as well, and people started noticing, wow. Like, he really loves this, and it really showed in the work. Slowly but surely I started working with celebrities, and I've been very fortunate to work with some amazing people. I'm really, like, so grateful.
You look really fresh. I mean, I'm not going to lie to you. You look like you're ready to go on this date. But, of course, we could not finish without getting back to--
