Carter Holton to start for Vanderbilt baseball vs. Ole Miss in SEC Tournament

Freshman left-hander Carter Holton will start for No. 8 seed Vanderbilt baseball against No. 9 seed Ole Miss in Tuesday's opener, the program announced Monday.

Holton, a Freshman All-SEC Team selection, is 7-3 with a 3.42 ERA in 13 starts this season. He was held out of the LSU series to rest after throwing a 113-pitch complete game shutout of Arkansas on May 15; the Commodores subsequently got swept.

The Rebels are countering with their ace, Dylan DeLucia. DeLucia is 5-1 with a 4.60 ERA this season. He started Thursday's game against Texas A&M but threw just 57 pitches in 1⅔ innings, taking the loss.

Holton is currently riding an 18-inning scoreless streak as he did not give up a run in any of his most recent three outings against Texas A&M, Georgia and Arkansas.

The loser of Tuesday's game is eliminated. The winner advances to face No. 1 Tennessee on Wednesday.

Vanderbilt (35-19) begins SEC Tournament play Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
