What are the three issues that you see as most important to your district and what will you do to address them?

1. Health care and health equity — I will continue to advocate for Medicaid expansion and participate in community initiatives that support health equity.

2. Economy and work force — I will continue to work and collaborate with business entities and other organizations to promote workforce training.

3. Educational success — continue to support increases in school support staff (nurses, social workers, counselors and psychiatrists.)

At a time when costs are rising, state government has a surplus. How should it be used?

Reconsider the earned income tax credit. Improve Medicaid reimbursement rates. Increase wages for teachers to the national level.

Will you vote for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina?

Yes.

What has the legislature gotten right, and what has it gotten wrong, about public education in North Carolina?

Restored some programs such as the Teaching Fellows and master’s pay. Did not fund Leandro.

Should North Carolina change its abortion laws? How?

There should be fewer restrictions on abortion after 20 weeks.

Yes.

It is the responsibility of the NC Board of Education and the local LEA to shape curriculum for our public schools.
