Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury clears COVID-19 protocols, will coach against Texans

The Arizona Cardinals announced head coach Kliff Kingsbury has cleared the league’s COVID-19 protocols and will be back on the sideline against the visiting Houston Texans on Sunday.

He had tested positive for the virus and missed last week’s game at the Cleveland Browns.

Kingsbury had his second negative test within 24 hours on Sunday morning.

The Cardinals, who can match the franchise’s best start in history by going 7-0, still have three players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list in outside linebacker Chandler Jones, defensive end Zach Allen and defensive tackle Corey Peters.

Kingsbury participated in meetings virtually throughout the week and was actively involved in the team’s preparation despite not being on the practice field.

He tested positive a day before the Cardinals flew to Cleveland last week despite being vaccinated and asymptomatic.
