Captains hit four home runs, rally for 11-8 victory

Aug. 8—Korey Holland's go-ahead, three-run home run in the sixth inning was one of four homers for the Captains in their 11-8 wn over Great Lakes on Aug. 7 at Classic Park.

Gabriel Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the second inning, Milan Tolentino hit a three-run shot in the fifth, and Connor Kokx hit a two-run homer in the eighth.

Lake County entered the home half of the sixth trailing, 8-5. Michael Amditis drove in a run with a two-out single. Holland followed with his seventh home run of the season for a 9-8 Captains advantage.

Petey Halpin hit a run-scoring triple in the fourth. The Captains had 10 hits, including six for extra bases, but struck out 14 times.

The Loons took advantage of four Captains errors, as four of their eight runs were unearned.

The Captains won the series, 4-2, against the first-place team in the Midwest League East Division. They are 55-45 on the season.

After a day off, fifth-place Fort Wayne Classic Park visits for six games beginning Aug. 9.
