The Vancouver Canucks have acquired forward J.T. Miller in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning, in exchange for goaltender Marek Mazanec, a 2019 third-round pick and a 2020 conditional pick.

Canucks GM Jim Benning explained the provisions of the 2020 pick in a statement, revealing that it converts to a 2021 first-round selection if Vancouver misses the playoffs next spring.

Miller recorded 13 goals and 47 points for the Lightning last season and provides immediate, much-needed depth for the Canucks’ forward corps. The Lightning, in the interim, create some cap space.
