In the last few years there’s been a staggering amount of competition for the best comeback in sports history.

There’s the Atlanta Falcons fumbling a 28-3 lead in Superbowl LI, the Golden State Warriors blowing a 3-1 advantage in the NBA Finals, Tiger Woods rising from the ashes to win The Masters, and for a recent addition, Team USA erasing a 10-point deficit to beat Team Canada in overtime at the World Cup of Dodgeball.

It’s a rivalry embedded deep in our North American roots, and in this episode, Uncle Sam slapped the Canucks with an embarrassing loss.

Team Canada held a commanding 12-2 lead over the USA, but as the iconic movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story once proved, no lead is ever safe. USA stormed back to tie the game and force overtime.

This time around, the Golden Goal would not be scored by a Cole Harbour, N.S., native. One lonely Canadian was left standing on the dodgeball floor, with the weight of a nation on his shoulders as he made a brave attempt to eliminate one of many Americans across the court.
