The Calgary Flames have extended defenceman Rasmus Andersson on a six-year contract worth $4.55 million annually, the team announced Wednesday.

The 23-year-old is in his second full season with the club where he’s recorded 3 goals and 12 points in 44 games. Last season he put up 19 points in 79 games with the Flames and now becomes the team’s longest-signed player with his deal set to expire in 2026.

He was selected by Calgary in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft and was a pending RFA this summer in the final year of his entry-level contract.
