Calallen's Alaunah Almaraz voted Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week

After smashing three home runs in Calallen's softball playoff series win last week, sophomore Alaunah Almaraz has been voted Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week.

Almaraz went 3 for 5 with three home runs and five RBI as Calallen swept Hondo in a Class 4A regional quarterfinal series.

Almaraz received 11,278 of the 30,171 votes cast for 37.4% of the votes.

Bishop softball's Sadie Flores was second with 8,832 votes.

Students can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport.

Nominations are due each Monday by 5 p.m. and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.

Please include statistics from the week's games and any pertinent information or honors.

Voting runs Tuesday through Thursday each week.
