C-M girls take second at Warhawk Coed Relays

Apr. 11—NEW SHARON — Colfax-Mingo's girls track and field team won a relay, piled up several runner-up finishes and claimed second place as a team in the North Mahaska Warhawk Coed Relays on Thursday.

The Tigerhawks won the 4x200 relay and five of the six runner-up finishes were in individual events. C-M was second in the 4x100 and third in the shuttle hurdle relays.

Montezuma won the team title with 153 points. Colfax-Mingo's second-place finish netted 113.83 points. The rest of the eight-team field included Pella Christian (110), North Mahaska (89.33), Sigourney (82), Tri-County (65), BGM (63.5) and Iowa Valley (36.33).

Carley Underwood competed in the first high school track meet of her career and scored a team-best 19.5 points. McKenna Pleima (14.5) and Caylee Cunningham (10.5) also were double-digit scorers.

The winning 4x200 relay team included Abi Rawlins, Felicity Woods, Mickayla Lind and Pleima and they finished in 2 minutes, 2.03 seconds.

Underwood, Rawlins, Cunningham and Pleima teamed up to take second in the 4x100 in 56.55 seconds. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Rawlins, Lind, Morgan Van Dyke and Underwood were third in 1:20.98.

Underwood was second in the 100 hurdles (17.89 seconds) and the long jump (14 feet, 3 1/2 inches).

The Tigerhawks doubled up in the shot put, discus and high jump. Kyra Lester was second in the discus with a throw of 106 feet, 2 inches and Olivia Uecker finished fourth with a toss of 87-1.

In the shot put, McKayla Smith was the runner-up with a throw of 31-6 and Uecker took fifth with a toss of 27-7 1/2.

Daytin Chadwick was the runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 4-4. Cunningham finished fifth with a jump of 4-2.

Pleima finished fourth in the 100 (14.76) and 200 (30.41), Cunningham took fourth in the 400 (1:12.7) and Joslyn Dawson placed fifth in the 1,500 (6:30.77).
