Business People: Schulze Foundation gives $4M to Children’s Minnesota for new MRI unit

Children’s Minnesota, a chain of hospitals and clinics focused on pediatric care, announced the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation donated $4 million to development of a pediatric hybrid intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging neurosurgery suite. Additionally, the foundation launched a $1.5 million matching challenge through Dec. 31, 2023.

Dominium, a Plymouth-based affordable housing owner, developer and manager, announced that Todd Urness, shareholder and attorney at Winthrop and Weinstine, has been named general counsel. Urness will continue in his role Winthrop & Weinstine.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

First Resource Bank announced the promotion of Justine Seidel to market president of its Minneapolis office. Seidel joined First Resource in 2014 as senior vice president of commercial lending.

GOVERNMENT

U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., announced that Josh Straka has been named chief of staff and that Katie Connolly will be her district director. Connolly has served as her Minnesota scheduler and office manager since 2015. McCollum’s House district includes St. Paul. … Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena announced the promotions of Cheri Townsend to chief deputy and Amy Schaffer to head of the adult criminal division. Townsend and Schaffer have been with the county attorney’s office since 2019 and 1999 respectively.

HEALTH CARE

HealthPartners, a Bloomington-based health insurer and health care provider, announced that Alita Risinger has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer for care delivery. Risinger previously was at Baylor Scott & White Health, a nonprofit health system in Texas. … Health Dimensions Group, a Minnetonka-based owner and manager of long-term care and senior living facilities, announced John Capasso has been named executive adviser of senior care. Most recently, Capasso served in executive positions at Trinity Health and Catholic Health East.

Fredrikson & Byron, Minneapolis, announced that attorney Ryan Cox has joined the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources, Energy Regulation & Permitting and Commercial Law groups. Cox previously worked in the general counsel’s office of a nationally recognized regional utility holding company. … Winthrop & Weinstine, Minneapolis, announced that Haley D. Cobb has joined the firm as Government Relations Specialist in the Regulatory and Government Relations Group as part of the Advocacy and Lobbying practice.

Icario, a St. Louis Park-based provider of health care management software and services to providers, announced the appointment of Marc Willard as CEO and member of the board of directors. Steve Wigginton, Icario’s founding CEO, will remain an investor and adviser to the company. … Agiliti, an Eden Prairie-based national provider of medical equipment to providers, announced that Tom Leonard will retire as CEO on March 10 and that President Tom Boehning will succeed Leonard and join the board of directors. Leonard will remain with the company until March 31, and continue as a member of the board.

Franklin Center, a Golden Valley organization serving individuals with autism and neurodiversities, announced the appointment of Kim Crosby Snow as executive director. Snow has been serving as interim executive director since June and is a member of Franklin Center’s board of trustees.
