Bulldogs fall into loser's bracket in Tallahassee

The Bulls would tack on three runs later, but with a shutout from their own Georgina Corrick they weren't necessary.
South Florida defeated Mississippi State 4-0 in first-day play at the Tallahassee Regional Friday, dropping the Bulldogs into the loser's bracket where they will face the loser between Howard and No. 2 national seed Florida State on Saturday.
The Bulldogs managed just four hits in the game, two of them from five-hole hitter Paige Cook.
Correct walked three and struck out nine.
The Bulldogs (33-25) face an uphill climb to reach the regional championship round for a third-straight NCAA Tournament.
They're hoping for a program-first super regional berth.
Mississippi State threatened with a hit and a walk in the seventh, but Corrick (37-5) struck out Mia Davidson to end the game.
