The latest Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com Emerging Housing Markets Index identified these soon-to-be-hot markets by analyzing the 300 largest metropolitan areas based on factors such as a thriving local economy, low unemployment, competitive wages, short commutes, easy access to recreational activities, the median number of days homes stay on the market, property taxes and more.
The index found that savvy homebuyers are seeking out affordable cities located primarily in the South and Midwest. Here's a look at the top 10 markets where the budget-minded are moving.
