Buck crash-lands in basement office in Colorado. Check out the wild photos

An unlucky buck crash landed into a basement office in Colorado, and wildlife officials suspect it’s because of the mule deer mating season, known as the rut.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife posted a series of photos showing the big buck with an impressive rack inside the home office, the damage he caused upon being tranquilized, and eventually him waking up and limping off.

“The mule deer mating season, or the rut, sends bucks into a frenzy to mate with does,” the agency wrote on Twitter. “After sharpening their antlers on trees, they wildly chase does and drive off rival bucks, sparring violently. @COParksWildlife blames the rut for this scene today in #ColoradoSprings.”

Wildlife officer Travis Sauder suspected the buck may have seen his reflection in the basement window.

“Or maybe it was in a fight and lost,” Sauder said. “But somehow it crashed through the window and landed in a basement office where it made a bit of a mess.”

Sauder sedated the buck with a dart, and it tried to flee but knocked over a vase of flowers with its antlers. The agency posted a photo of the buck lying down on the bed of overturned flowers and vase shards.

“Once it calmed down, Sauder treated cuts it suffered,” the agency said. “Then he and CPW biologist Ty Woodward carried it outside for a release.”

The buck was still sedated once outside, and Sauder massaged its chest to stimulate it until drugs that reverse the tranquilizer took effect. Eventually the buck sat up, looking confused.

“Once awake, the buck remains groggy but eventually limped off completing this wildlife rescue,” the agency said.
