Browns defensive star Myles Garrett released from hospital following one-car accident

Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett was released from the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital on Monday night, the same day he suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a one-car accident, a source confirmed to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Garrett was involved in the accident after he left the team's practice facility in Berea, Ohio. He was transported to the Akron General, while his female passenger was transported to the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital.

"Myles Garrett was involved in a one-car accident this afternoon and was transported to a local hospital to be medically evaluated," Garrett's agent, Nicole Lynn, tweeted Monday evening. "While we are waiting to learn the extent of his injuries, he has been alert and responsive. The Garrett family would like to thank the medical personnel that got Myles and his passenger out of the vehicle and safely transported to the hospital."

Lynn confirmed to the Beacon Journal that Garrett did not suffer any broken bones in the accident. Cleveland.com was first to report.

In a statement released Tuesday night, the Browns said Garrett suffered "a shoulder sprain, biceps strain, minor lacerations as well as some bumps and bruises to various other body parts" in the accident. Garrett did not suffer any fractures and has cleared concussion protocol, the Browns added.

Garrett's "availability for Sunday’s game in Atlanta will be evaluated by team doctors throughout the week," the Browns said.

The Sharon Township Fire Department said it responded to a single-vehicle crash at 2:57 p.m. and took a man and a woman for medical treatment of injuries that weren't life-threatening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said troopers arriving on scene found a gray Porsche 911 Turbo S off the road with rollover damage. The Porsche had been traveling southbound when it went off the roadway and overturned.

The patrol said impairment from alcohol and/or drugs is not suspected and that both Garrett and his passenger were wearing safety belts.

Garrett, 26, lives in Medina County, where the accident reportedly took place.

Garrett has played for the Browns since 2017, when they selected him first overall in the NFL draft out of Texas A&M University. He has three sacks this season for the Browns (2-1), who will face the Atlanta Falcons (1-2) on the road Sunday.
