Broomfield's first Chick-fil-A opens Thursday

Sep. 22—Get ready to eat more chicken: a Chick-fil-A is opening in Broomfield.

The chicken chain is opening its first Broomfield post at 4260 West 120th Ave., which will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to a news release about the opening. The restaurant will be open for drive-thru only for now.

Chick-fil-A will donate $25,000 to Feeding America as part of the restaurant opening. The money will be distributed to partners "within the greater Denver area to aid in the fight against hunger," the release reads.

Scott Wehn, who operates two other local Chick-fil-A locations, was selected as the independent owner and operator of the Broomfield location. He has lived in the Broomfield area for the past 10 years with his wife, Ami, and children Ryan and Alexis.

"I'm thrilled to offer leadership opportunities for my team and to provide a place where people can come to learn and grow," Wehn said in the release. "I want to encourage my team to be leaders both inside and outside the workplace, and I look forward to creating positive experiences for team members and guests in the Broomfield community."

In August 2020, the Broomfield City Council, acting as the Broomfield Urban Renewal Authority, approved an urban renewal site plan for the Chick-fil-A on a 6-4 vote. Councilmembers Stan Jezierski, Elizabeth Law-Evans, Laurie Anderson, Kimberly Groom, Heidi Henkel and Jean Lim voted in favor, while then-Mayor Pro Tem Guyleen Castriotta and council members William Lindstedt, Deven Shaff and Sharon Tessier voted against.

Opposing councilmembers sited traffic concerns related to the restaurant and lack of sustainability measures.

Prior to the Broomfield opening, the closest Chick-fil-A locations for Broomfield residents were in Superior and Westminster.
