Bronson Middle School boys goes 2-0 at Big 8 basketball tournament

BRONSON — The Bronson Middle School boys basketball teams headed to their respective sites for the second round of the Big 8 Middle School boys basketball tournaments on Wednesday, with both coming home victorious.

In the seventh grade tournament the Vikings remained unbeaten in tournament play, defeating the Reading Rangers by the score of 32-19.

Leading the Bronson effort was Reid Stukey with nine points and 10 rebounds. Also adding to the Viking win was Wyatt Weinberg with seven points, four steals and two assists; Ben Stevens with four points, two rebounds and six steals; Dallas Wilson with four points, four rebounds and three steals; and Clayton Shortridge, Brair Green, Joseph Fair and Angus Shiery with with two points each.

With the victory the seventh grade Vikings are now 6-5 overall on the season and now advance on to Big 8 Tournament finals to be held Dec. 11 at Reading High School beginning at 10:15 a.m.

In the eighth grade contest the Bronson Vikings rolled to a win over Union City, winning by the score of 38-13.

Bronson was led on the night by Aiden Whitaker who had 10 points, six steals and one rebound. Also adding to the Bronson effort was Matt Anderson with eight points and two rebounds; Layne Arver with seven points, two rebounds and four steals; Spencer Losinski with six points, six rebounds, and six steals; Ozzy Ardoin with three points; Warner Wotta with two points and five rebounds; and Stevie Wilson with two points, three steals and four rebounds.

The eighth grade Vikings are now 9-2 overall on the season and will play in the next round of the Big 8 tournament on Dec. 11 at Homer High School beginning at 10:15 a.m.
