After a monster Week 1 performance against the Chargers, Adams has been held relatively in check over the last two games. While Adams has scored a touchdown in every game, he has a combined 48 yards in the last two games with the Raiders.

He’ll have another tough matchup in Week 4 as second-year cornerback Patrick Surtain II is expected to shadow him in coverage. Here is what Ian Hartitz of Pro Football Focus has to say about that matchup and why you should still expect a big game from the All-Pro receiver:

“(Patrick) Surtain deserves a lot of credit for limiting D.K. Metcalf (7-36-0) in Week 1. He’s allowed just eight receptions for 45-scoreless yards all season, but c’mon: This is Davante Adams we’re talking about. The Raiders’ undisputed No. 1 pass-game option is due for a major bounce back; he’s impossible to treat as anything other than an upside WR1 with weekly 15-plus target upside.”

The word out of practice this week in Las Vegas is that the Raiders are working on getting Adams more involved earlier in the game. They need their top playmaker to be a factor early in these games to get him in rhythm.

After seeing just 17 total targets in the last two games, look for the Raiders to get Adams even more involved this week despite one of the league’s best cornerbacks following him around the field. Needless to say, this should be a really fun matchup to watch in Week 4.
